May News 2024

Welcome to our May Newsletter. It's been a busy time at Revive with lots of change afoot!

On the team front we have said goodbye to several people who are moving on to their next adventures. Life events have caused most of our staff movement with some leaving for travel, for family reasons and to pursue new career paths. It's always hard to say goodbye and we wish Lisa, Ai, Sophie and Amy all the very best.

As doors close others open, and we have in turn welcomed new therapists and new admin staff to our team.

Find out about our newest team members in this newsletter and find some great introductory offers to enable you to meet them and experience their unique skill sets.
New to the team we have Joe (Physio) , Diarmuid (Physio) , Eleanor and Gracie (both new to our admin team). We have also welcomed our first Chiropractor to Revive. Dr Tamara Meuwese comes to us with a wealth of experience having worked in multimodal clinics in Malaysia where she lectured and taught for 9 years.

Tammy's passion is treating tendons using spinal alignment therapy alongside shockwave and cold laser therapy.

With a PhD in radiology Tammy is also able to image tendons and track progress and response to treatment. Also joining us this month we have Erin (physio) who is passionate about all things Pilates and Women's Health.

May is also the month we celebrate Mother's Day and we would like to wish all Mothers a happy and healthy day on the 12th filled with love and laughter .

SPINAL HEALTH WEEK

20-26TH MAY

Annually, Spinal Health Week focusses on a specific spinal health issue while promoting the importance of maintaining good spinal health to improve overall wellbeing. In 2024, the campaign focusses on the causes of back pain and the negative effects back problems are having on Australians and the economy.

If you're among the 4 out of 5 Australians who experience back pain, you're not alone. Back pain is the single leading cause of disability globally and can often lead to poorer quality of life, psychological distress or bodily pain. If left untreated, back pain can sometimes lead to disability.

In 2020-21, an estimated $3.4 billion was spent on the treatment and management of back problems in Australia.

Chiropractic healthcare is for everyBODY, providing effective, drug-free treatment for back pain for all Australians regardless of your age, profession or lifestyle.

If you or someone you know suffers from back problems and you're tired of pain holding you back, consider Chiropractic care to get your back, back on track

How Can A TREATMENT PLAN at Revive help your with your CHRONIC back pain?

Chronic Low Back Pain can absolutely ruin your life and steal all the joy in it!

When you decide that you've had enough of the endless cycle of recurrent episodes of lower back pain (or the constant nagging pains in your low back) and the cost in terms of time and money and quality of life  associated with this  - come and have a chat to us.

At your Initial consultation we look together with you at your goals and what you want to achieve through embarking on a treatment plan.

Once we have assessed you we will talk you through a plan of action to resolve your symptoms but also to prevent recurrences.

The most effective combination of therapies that we see is:
1)  Manual therapy - physio, chiro or massage, dry needling and other physical modalities
2) Combining this with remedial supervised exercise  (Clinical Pilates or functional rehab training in the gym)

We will let you know what an ideal plan would be in terms of frequency of treatment and exercise sessions over initially a 6 week period.  At the end of this 6 week block we will carry out a re-assessment and reconfirm your goals to determine what will keep you moving and living pain free.

Please be sure to talk to your therapist when you come for your Initial consult about your long term goals and we will work with you to achieve these within your time and financial constraints.

CLINIC CORNER - PLANTAR FASCIITIS

Plantar fasciitis is a common foot condition characterized by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes. This inflammation typically causes stabbing pain in the heel, especially with the first steps in the morning or after prolonged periods of rest.

Treatment for plantar fasciitis often begins with conservative measures such as rest, stretching exercises, orthotic devices, and pain relief medications.  More recently shockwave therapy has emerged as a conjunctive treatment for this often stubborn painful condition.

Tammy our new Chiropractor has extensive experience in using shockwave for treating Plantar fasciitis.  Our shockwave machine is housed at our West End Clinic.

Shockwave therapy delivers acoustic waves to the affected area, stimulating blood flow and promoting tissue repair. This non-invasive procedure has shown effectiveness in reducing pain and improving function in patients with plantar fasciitis.

Shockwave therapy offers hope for individuals struggling with persistent plantar fasciitis symptoms, providing a potentially valuable addition to the treatment arsenal against this debilitating condition
