Why is pelvic physiotherapy important?

Pelvic pain can have many causes – from muscle tension, nerve irritation, or pelvic floor dysfunction to conditions like endometriosis or postnatal changes. It can affect women, men, and people of all ages.

You might notice:

  • Aching or sharp pain in your pelvis, hips, or lower back
  • Pain with exercise, sitting, or certain movements
  • Discomfort during intimacy or after medical procedures
  • Bladder or bowel issues linked to pelvic floor tension

Our goal is to help you feel understood, supported, and empowered with a treatment plan tailored to you and your goals.

Your physiotherapy program may include:

  • Pelvic floor assessment and treatment – evidence-based techniques to release tension or strengthen where needed
  • Education – so you can better understand your condition and how to support it
  • Exercise and movement therapy – to restore strength, flexibility, and confidence
  • Relaxation and breathing techniques – to reduce tension and pain flare-ups

Exercise therapy to support your pelvis

Gynaecological pre- and post-operative care

We also provide education and treatment to help you on your surgical journey for conditions and operations such as:

  • Abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy, salpingectomy and oophorectomy
  • Surgery for Endometriosis and Adenomyosis
  • Removal or fibroids/polyps and cysts
  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse (anterior/posterior wall repair)
  • Sling and Mesh repair for treatment of stress urinary incontinence

What to Expect

Your journey begins with a thorough assessment where we listen to your concerns, examine your movement, and identify the root cause of your symptoms.

We begin the assessment by taking a thorough history. We need to know when your symptoms started and what your current concerns are. You may feel that you have an extensive story - that's okay! It is important to understand the full background of what has led to your appointment. Sending through any gynaecological history such as doctor's letters or surgical notes can be extremely helpful.

In most cases, the best way to assess pelvic floor function is by conducting an internal pelvic or vaginal examination. Please let us know if you are comfortable with this.

We focus not just on symptom relief, but on empowering you to return to the activities you love—stronger and more confident than before.

We work with GPs, Specialists, Surgeons, Allied Health, Work Cover, NDIS, DVA and Private Health Funds
