We run a variety of floor classes at the studio including:

What is the difference between equipment and mat pilates classes?

Our Equipment Pilates groups (or classes) run throughout the day on the hour  - these are small groups of up to four people using the pilates equipment  - participants carry out their own individual program in these sessions and they are suitable for rehabilitation of injuries.  The springs on the equipment add resistance to movement.   For more information about equipment pilates go the the "pilates" tab on the left.  We also run mat or floor classes at the studio - these are carried out on mats on the floor and do not involve the use of equipment except for some small apparatus at times.  All participants carry out the same exercises in matwork pilates so it is more suitable for people without injuries or pain.  We allow up to 12 participants in these classes.

Using your own body weight as resistance, a matwork Pilates class is challenging and fun. A number of different classes are offered at REVIVE to add variety and intensity with the use of props and small equipment. Before commencing matclasses we require you to complete a 1 hour session with an instructor. This is an essential initial session with an instructor to introduce the principals of Pilates and learn the basic manoveres.  The introductory session is not on our timetable however if you'd like to make a booking for this class you can call either of our studios and we'll find a convenient time for you.  You will ensure faster results if you are completing the exercises with the correct muscle activation from the outset.  This one hour introduction will ensure we can safely screen your potential injury and enable you to begin your first mat class with confidence. Bookings are essential as maximum numbers apply.

Remedial Mat Class

     
Remedial Mat Class is taken by physiotherapist Anne Wilby on Saturday morning at 10am.  This class is suitable for people with injuries.  Maximum of 7 participants per class ensures close supervision and adjustment of exercises as ability varies.  $25 per class - health rebates apply.  Bookings essential.

Pregnancy Pilates at Revive is a mat based class using various props such as balls, bands and fitness circles. These classes help expecting mothers in their first, second and third trimesters to develop awareness of their pelvic floor and strengthen and support their lower back. The classes also focus on shoulder stability and upper extremity strength, as well as general fitness and flexibility. The classes are claimable on your Private Health cover. You will need clearance from your Doctor prior to commencing these classes. To introduce you to the class we require you to make a 30-45 minute booking with our Physiotherapist taking the class for an assessment.   Bookings are essential and minimum numbers are required for each class.  This class is claimable on Private health. Please note 5 passes have a 7 week expiry and 10 passes have a 12 week expiry.

PRAM FRIENDLY PILATES

  This mother and baby exercise class is specially designed to help you get back into shape post labour with the benefit of bringing your bubby along! Ideal for clients with no injuries wanting a total body workout to promote strength, core stability, flexibility , posture and breathing.

The reformer is a specialised Pilates machine that offers additional benefits and challenges which allows exercises to be easier or more challenging depending on the desired movement emphasis.
Reformer fitness is a dynamic paced Pilates group class programmed on the reformer. Classes are taken by qualified Pilates instructor Emma Hinwood and will provide a full body workout incorporating key Pilates principles including; Control, Concentration, Centring, Precision, Breath and Flowing Movement.  Iyengar Yoga is characterised in the practice of asana and pranayama with the innovative approach emphasising precision and alignment, planned sequencing, timing and the use of props such as belts and blocks.  This approach has allowed people of varying ages, levels of health and fitness to enjoy the benefits which a sustained practice can bring - the ability to face the physical, mental and emotional challenges of contemporary life with strength, vitality, mobility, thoughtfulness and equanimity. This class starts with cardio, followed by weights and circuit training. It focuses mainly on toning up and increasing endurance. Weight training has been proven to be very effective in fat loss and can also help reduce back pain by increasing the strength of the core. Come for an energetic start to your weekend! Healthy Bones

We offer healthy bones classes at our studio. The class is a 1 hour workout for men and women wanting to strengthen, tone and increase bone density and muscle mass. Fit to Run

This class is a 10 week block class in which exercises progress or become more challenging each week. Our next 10 week block starts on Saturday 28th January 2012 at 9am.  It is a fun and challenging circuit based class taken by Physiotherapist Alex Mogilevski.  This involves a series of exercises to improve your balance, strength and flexibility which will improve your running.  Bookings are essential as this class books up quickly. Please note that this is not a running class - ie we do not go out and run as a group.  Health fund rebates apply.  $25 per class or a 10 pass for $220.  


 

Falls Prevention Program

This class is an 8 week program of education and exercise run by two physiotherapists. A maximum of 12 participants are in this class. Participants will be assessed in week 1 and reassessed at week 8.  Week 2 to 7 involve a 45min exercise session.  This class is recommended for over 70s.  Total cost $240.    This will begin on Tuesday 24th January at 11am .  Health fund rebates apply.
